Yes, we're an open club run from a public leisure centre. All are welcome from beginners to experienced players. We'd love you to join us but you're welcome to play at the leisure centre without being part of our club.
There is no fee to join our club or play in our leagues. You just need to pay the leisure centre for courts you use either as a court fee or membership. Club Night is free to attend and there are no court fees.
You'll need clean indoor court shoes with non-marking soles, comfortable sportswear and a racket. If you don't have a racket, they can be hired from the leisure centre reception.
There's a wide range of rackets available and your choice is mostly personal preference. Good rackets can be bought for £30 but you can spend over £100. In general, aim for a racket weighing 135g or less with a graphite frame. Smaller rackets are available for children. Contact Us if you want more advice and some suggestions.
The standard squash ball is a double-yellow dot but it's designed for competition players. It needs to be hit hard to get it warm so it will bounce. If you're new to the game or don't hit the ball hard, try using a single-yellow dot (slow), white dot (medium), red dot (fast) or blue dot (fastest) ball. Squash is more fun with a bouncy ball.
Just get in touch. We'll need to figure out your standard relative to the other players. The best way to do this is to come along to Club Night and play some of our regulars. Our leagues run monthly and are managed online through SquashLevels. If you don't already have a profile, we'll create one for you and help you complete registration. SquashLevels charges fees for premium features but you do not need a premium membership to play in our leagues.
We play round robin matches of two games to 11 points. It starts from 7:30pm but you can join or leave anytime you want. We try to rotate players on and off court quickly to give everyone plenty of game time and a variety of opponents. We often have a range of standards from experienced players to beginners. If you're playing someone above your level, they'll help you. If you play someone below your level, we hope you'll help them.

Climb the ladder by challenging players above you and claiming their position. You may challenge as much or as little as you like but only players one or two places above you. Once per month, you may issue a Golden Challenge to anyone on the ladder. Record results on SquashLevels as a Club Match and notify Darrell of the result.
